RE: Maxxis (D) vs. Carlisle (E) vs. Marathon (C)

I am running Maxxis D's on my TT after having the Cheap Duro's go to hell on me. I blew one when it was less then a year old.
So far I am happy with the Maxxis tires. They have been on about 8 months and probably 4-5,000 miles. I would of gone to 16's and Michelin XPS ribs but I don't have the room. That will be on my next trailer.

RE: Grand Canyon planning

We stayed at the Trailer village in May for one night. We planned 3 but when we woke up to 8 inches of snow we changed plans and headed to Vegas early.
On that same 2 week trip we went to Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, Zion, Page Arizona, Vegas and Death valley.
I'm only 29 and had 2 weeks so we stayed bust but had a blast. The canyon is neat to see, but 2 weeks is an awful long time to spend there IMHO.

RE: Dodge Cummins Problem

Also a member of TDR and just replaced my lift pump with a stock replacement from Genos. 84K when mine went. I replaced it in the DQ parking lot in 15 minutes. I had it under the back seat waiting for it to fail.
I will be installing a FASS this winter. I want something reliable.

RE: Atwood water heater working intermittently

Well he took the MH into the dealer today to be looked at.
They diagnosed it as a Thermostat Disk and replaced it.
part was $13, Labor was $47 and a couple bucks for Misc shop supplies came to a total of $63.

RE: Atwood water heater working intermittently

Joseph,
I would search the Tech Forum and repost your woes there. You'll get responses from a bigger group, not just the class C crowd. You'll also see my similar water heater story there.....all fixed now, BTW.Thanks, I'll take a look over there.

RE: Atwood water heater working intermittently

First off, the only board connection I see is one in the upper right of the panel when looking at the WH from the outside access door. Looks to have 5 or 6 contact areas on the one plug there. We tried cleaning that with a pencil eraser, but that didn't help.
Where is the board exactly? Is that one connection part of it? It looks like you can take out two small screws and maybe pull it out. Unfortunately they are going home to Eugene tomorrow and I will be headed back to Portland so I may have to talk him through this over the phone or he may just take it in. If it was mine I would order the parts and take my chance.
I think I will check the gap on the igniter in the morning if I have time. My wife has been a bit under the weather so I may not have time before we pull out in the morning.

RE: Atwood water heater working intermittently

chasfm11,
thanks for the quick response.
The WH was working like I said intermittently for a while. It now won't do anything, we don't even here the click. I did notice a bit of a propane smell when we turned it on, but no clicking from the ignitor. The light on the panel is on so it is getting power. Also earlier today they did have both burners going on the stove. We also blew the tube and burner area out with compressed air so i doubt it's a spider web, that was our first thought.
Also yesterday after we got it to fire it would not re-fire when it should of.
We are suspecting a board or ignitor also, just wondering if we should order the parts or take it to the dealer for repairs.
Thanks, Joe

Atwood water heater working intermittently

My Father-in-law has a 2002 Minnie Winnie motor home with a Atwood electronic ignition water heater.
For a while it was working intermittently, now not at all. Yesterday we got it to fire after blowing the tube and ignition area out with compressed air, today it won't fire at all.
Any ideas? Could it be the board that's bad? How do we go about diagnosing this?
TIA, Joe

RE: First Time Geo Method

I am going to try the Geo method in 2 weeks when I pull the trailer back out, it sounds like a great idea.
I think you should of put some detergent back in, maybe the bleach also to deodorize it.
I don't think that a little bit of water in your waste tanks will hurt in the winter, but I live in the NW and it doesn't get too terribly cold here.
Freezing water expands, that's what causes problems. If there is only a few gallons of water in a 30+ gallon tank I don't see how it would harm it.

RE: Springdale 267 starting to show some wear

The screen door out of kilter is probably from people grabbing it when they climb into the trailer. It then gets bent toward and hits on the sill. Just give it a big tug up and get it back where it belongs. I also doubt the dents are from stress. The frame may stress a little but it should never be enough to dent the sheet metal. My guess is you bumped something with the rear bumper.
But it sounds like the TT is in great shape. Our Springdale has about 8000 miles on it and I've had no other problems other than the type you've had. The Duro tires wore out and I just replaced them--but guess that isn't unusual with the cheapo bias tires.
I too had to replace my tires after I blew one of those cheap Duros up. There was an issue at that time with the tires contacting the bottom of the trailer, but it got solved so I am over it. We blocked the trailer up 2 inches.
These dents look like Rock dents. I will post a picture next week. The trailer is at the lake with my wife and kids right now.

RE: Springdale 267 starting to show some wear

We have got our moneys worth. My family has enjoyed the heck out of it.
We have done a one week trip to Yellowstone and a 2 week trip to Utah, Arizona area. Along with those we have a ton of weekend trips along with some week long trips to the lake around home here. My wife and kids are camping right now with Grandma at the lake.
I am saving my vacation so I had to come back to work. Not much fun for me, but at least the wife and kids are having a good time.
I may be upgrading next year, not quite sure yet.

Springdale 267 starting to show some wear

Just curious. I knew when I bought my trailer that it was very entry level.
How many miles do you all have on your trailers?
But I do have to say that it has been holding up pretty dang well. I probably have 9-10,000 towed miles on it since buying it last year. The screen door is not shutting quite like it should and I have some dents in the sheet metal at the back corners of the trailer. Mainly between the rear bunk access door and the back corner. Not a big deal, I assume it's from flexing and stress of being on the road so much.
I had some tire and spring issues that Keystone kind of helped out with but other then that this thing has been trouble free.

RE: Shower leaking on floor. I need a curved shower bar and

I bought a piece of quarter round (not the real wood) from Home depot and cut it to size and then used silicone to adhere it to the tub. Woked great.
I did the same in our '04 Jayco JayFlight 27BH and it worked great. May have to do the same after we take delivery of our new '08 Jayco JayFlight G2 23FB later this month. We'll just have to wait and see.
Any pics?
Sorry, but I don't. It was rather easy and inexpensive. I aslo bought the materials from Home Depot.
I am picturing quarter-round along the edge of the tub and up the edges of the shower walls to damn the water at the edge so it doesn't flow over.
Am I correct? Maybe that and the curved shower bar will work good.
This is what I ended up doing. Some 1/4 round and a regular size shower curtain. Other then the curtain still clinging to us we have the problem fixed.

RE: Shower leaking on floor. I need a curved shower bar and

Try installing an RV Offset Shower Rod and a REAL shower curtain
I ordered one of these. I am going to try it and some splash guards and see how it goes
This didn't work, it had too much of a curve and interferred with other things in the bathroom
The owner of the company however was very easy to work with and I just sent it back. I had a refund check I think before he even received it.

They couldn't find anything wrong with it so I will just see what happens. I will be carrying a little electric heater from now on though.
